Senior Education Technical Advisor
Angelique Mahal provides technical education services through analysis, strategy, knowledge transfer, literature review, research, tool development, trainings, course development, and policy guidance. She served as a Peace Corps Volunteer and worked for several years in various capacities for the International Rescue Committee on global humanitarian aid and post-conflict development and at ITHAKA on the Aluka Collections, a philanthropic initiative to build a digital library of scholarly resources from and about Africa for higher education and scholarly use with her focus on the Struggles for Freedom in Southern Africa content area. She briefly worked on policy analysis and research for the Economic Community of West African States’ West African Health Organization and also briefly on post-earthquake Haiti and the Japan earthquake-tsunami at UMCOR. She has previously been based in Benin, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Guinea, Liberia, Malawi, and held headquarter assignments in Botswana, Haiti, Kenya, Jordan, Myanmar, Namibia, Nigeria, and South Africa.
She also served on the reading committee reviewing and scoring applications for the U.S. Department of State's 2015 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. She speaks French and holds a M.A. in Anthropology and Education and a M.S. in Social Work, with concentration in social administration, both from Columbia University and a B.A. in Art History from The City University of New York, Hunter College.
