Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives
Joyce Chen is the Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Center for Sustainable Development. In this role, she supports the Executive Director with strategic planning, communications, fundraising, organizational management, and project development.
From 2011-2015, Joyce worked on the Millennium Villages Project health team where she focused on nutrition and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) interventions in sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining CSD, Joyce worked with Mercy Corps on U.S. foreign assistance policy initiatives and served as a Youth Development Peace Corps Volunteer in Ukraine. She also has direct practice experience working with underprivileged youth and adults with serious mental illness in domestic and international non-profits.
Joyce has a dual Master of International Affairs and Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and School of Social Work.
