Tara Stafford Ocansey
Senior Education Technology Specialist
Tara is an education and creative media professional with extensive experience as a program manager and organizer working in diverse education settings in the US, sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. In her time with the Earth Institute (EI), Tara has led research initiatives to identify best practices to integrating technology tools in rural, resource-poor classrooms, and managed girls’ scholarship and vocational and life skills training programs in ten countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Myanmar. Prior to joining EI, Tara worked as a Research Fellow with the Council of American Overseas Research Centers, studying how evaluation efforts measure social change impacts of adult literacy programs in Senegal, Ghana and Bangladesh, and as a community organizer working with parents and students in Los Angeles County schools to advocate for various public interest policies and programs. Tara has her MA in Comparative and International Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and her BA in Cinema-Television from the University of Southern California.
